As part of the 5th Annual International Awards Competition, FotoWeekDC is seeking extraordinary self published photography books. The 2012 FotoBook Competition will honor self-published books by professional and emerging photographers from DC, and the national and international community.

  • Print and eBooks will be accepted in 2 main categories - Fine Art & Documentary/Photojournalism
  • FotoBook cash prizes totaling $6,000 and complimentary annual FotoPage subscriptions
  • Award winning printed books, e-books, and selected prints will be exhibited at the Goethe Institut, Washington, DC (a primary Festival hub) during FotoWeekDC, November 9-18, 2012, and shown through 12/18/12. This work will also receive extensive online exposure on the FotoDC website
  • An expert panel of judges will select the winners
  • Winners will be notified by October 8, 2012

 

General Guidelines


  • Multiple entries are accepted
  • Each book may only be entered once. Example 1: A book title may be entered in the Fine Art OR Documentary/Photojournalism category - but not both. Example 2: A Fine Art book title may be entered as a print book OR an eBook - but not both
  • Books may be self published through a commercial service, publisher, or they may be handmade
  • Each book counts as a single submission.  Multiple entries must be submitted and paid for separately
  • Entrants will receive confirmation once their print or ebook has been received and catalogued
  • Hand delivered submissions will not be accepted
  • You may enter both the FotoBook Competition as well as the single image/series/multimedia Foto Competition
