Steppin' Out -  Michael B. Platt
Exhibitions

Michael B. Platt revisits his idea of life-sized cut-outs of charcoal drawings on wood, made in the 1980s-90s and based on then current newspaper images of black on black crime. For Steppin’ Out, Platt cuts out digital prints from adhesive fabric—playing with repeated figures, generating and implying a sense of ritual—familiar and unfamiliar. The experiences of a recent trip to Australia influenced many aspects of these new images. Currently Platt teaches drawing, digital photography/digital printmaking at Howard University.
